Thor 4: Will Taika Waititi return to direct the fourth Thor movie?

Thor has had three of his own solo movies to varying degrees of success. Thor Ragnarok, the third movie, was directed by Taiki Waititi. Though the Norse God has his hands full with Thanos and Endgame, he may have more solo movies in the future.

Will there be a fourth Thor movie?

Perhaps, as revealed by Valkyrie actress Tessa Thompson to the LA Times.

Thompson said: “I heard that a pitch has happened for [another “Thor” film].

She added: “I don’t know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened.

Many will be excited to hear a fourth Thor is potentially in the works, as Ragnarok was such a success.

Tessa Thompson has the information on the director, too.

She said: “I think the idea is Taika would come back.”

Avengers: Endgame is the last movie in Chris Hemsworth’s contract with Marvel.

Unlike his fellow first-generation Avengers, though, Hemsworth may return to the cinematic universe in Phase Four of the MCU.

Waititi also voiced Korg in Thor: Ragnarok and many fans are hoping he will return to Avengers: Endgame.

Waititi was widely credited with rescuing the Thor franchise after the flop of Dark World.

A prevailing theory about Endgame states the original generation Avengers will swap their lives for those lost in the Snap.

If so, the likelihood Hemsworth would return as Thor is slim.

However, there is another option for a fourth Thor movie which does not include Hemsworth at all.

The fourth Thor movie could take inspiration from the comics and instead adopt a female Thor.

Or, as many die-hard fans of Valkyrie may hope for, the hammer may be passed to Thomspon’s heroine.

Thompson seems keen on the idea too, saying to LA Times: “I just love the idea of more women Marvel characters getting to intersect.

“I just think it’s so cool and it’s time and why not?

“There’s so many compelling female characters inside of the MCU.

“And just selfishly, when I get to see those women in passing, they’re all such cool women.”

“So the idea of getting to spend time with them and hang out is so fun.

“I’m just excited that this new phase promises to have women and queer folks.”

Avengers: Endgame is out in UK cinemas on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
