The star is expected to end her time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of the new blockbuster.

Paltrow has played Potts in seven movies since 2008: the Iron Man trilogy, The Avengers, Spider-Man Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War and now Avengers: Endgame.

Speaking at the latter’s LA premiere last night, she was asked what she felt as she finally wrapped filming.

“I have an indelible moment from filming – I don’t know if it was the actual last day,” she said.

“But we were all together, and shooting on this beautiful lake in Atlanta, and it was amazing to be with everybody.

“It’s been just an amazing experience to be a part of for all these ten-plus years.

“It’s very nostalgic and emotional and it’s wonderful to be here, we’re so excited.”

The premiere last night marked the film’s first official screening, with the international releases beginning tomorrow.

AVENGERS ENDGAME SCREENINGS TO BE CANCELLED OVER TICKETS SCANDAL?

In fact the first public screenings in Australia are less than twelve hours away, with the UK release scheduled for midnight on Thursday, and the US on Friday.

Paltrow isn’t the only long-term Marvel star expected to bow out after Endgame: the likes of Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans are also widely speculated to be on the way out.

First reactions from the movie are incredibly positive, with most critics being emphatic in their praise following the premiere.

Ahead of the full reviews being published later tonight, critics in attendance at the premiere have praised the sheer scale of the storytelling, as well as the humour and emotion.

One tweeted: “Nothing can truly prepare you for the emotional journey you are about to go on with this film.

“Anyone who has been watching these films in the MCU for the past 10-years is in for some of the most incredible and emotional surprises. Stay away from any spoilers. Trust me.”

It seems a sure-thing that the film will break box office records over its opening weekend, and it could even become the highest grossing film of all time before its run in cinemas closes.

Avengers: Endgame is out on Thursday in the UK.
