On the latest episode of Brexit: The Final Countdown, host Rebecca Hutson is joined by Express.co.uk Head of News Paul Baldwin and Video News Editor Thomas Hunt. Mr Hunt insisted that European elections are “another vote on Brexit”, with Britons receiving the choice of Remain or Leave. He explained that there are now “two very clear options”, with Change UK and the Brexit Party launching their campaigns on Tuesday. Mr Hunt argued: “I actually think the whole ‘second referendum, we need another vote on Brexit’, this is it.

“We will be quoted, whatever happens, if the polls are correct, the Brexiteers will turn around and say ‘we won 62 percent’ or ’52 percent’ of the vote, we have got a majority.

“It is a simple choice between Brexit and Remain that could secure Brexit.”

However, Mr Baldwin contended: “If it was a legitimate poll, yes I would agree.

“But it’s not, it’s a poll with absolutely no meaning because we will leave at some point. It’s pointless.

“So it negates the entire thing because people like me, who have never missed the chance to vote in their entire lives, are thinking really?

“Do I want to be part of this laughing stock, a front to democracy, I don’t think I do.”

A new Brexit date has been set for October 31 and the UK will have to take part in the vote unless MPs agree on a deal before the day of the elections.

Nigel Farage launched another slate of Brexit Party candidates on Tuesday, including Claire Fox, a former member of the Revolutionary Communist Party.

The Remainer party, formerly known as the Independent Group, launched their election campaign in Bristol on Tuesday where they are fighting to “stop Brexit”.

The elections will be held between May 23 and 26 where a total of 751 MEPs will be chosen to represent the EU’s members states.

However, if Britain leaves the bloc before the elections start they will not need to take part – and the seats will be reduced to 705.
