Avengers Endgame ending ‘was NOT as it seemed’: INCREDIBLE theory gives new twist
WARNING: Contains major Avengers: Endgame spoilers.
The finale of the Marvel epic is becoming a true historic box office phenomenon.
Its ending is, on the whole, leaving fans massively satisfied. But there is there a downside we didn’t see?
This is your last chance to dodge massive spoilers – so stop reading now if you haven’t seen Endgame.
Towards the end of the film, the Snap was reversed when Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) wielded the Infinity Stones as Hulk.
That wasn’t quite the end: Thanos’s 2014 iteration was hot on the Avengers’ tail in a bid to wipe out the entire planet altogether.
But when the Snap was reversed, and people were brought back to life in the spot where they were dusted, was there widespread devastation that we didn’t see?
Reddit user codyswann, in a theory that has been 77% upvoted, wrote: “Thanos actually is inevitable. With the time stone, Thanos, like Dr. Strange can see all 15 million scenarios.
“He sees the one in which he ‘loses’ but also sees further into that future and realizes it ends with a complete collapse of civilization.
“He also knows that in all other scenarios, there is a generation of grief, but later generations are happy and way better off.
“So he decides to give life a choice – accept its fate or try to change it and accomplish his other goal – the complete teardown of civilization.
“This is why he so brazenly uses the stones again on his garden. He wants the Avengers to find him and ultimately decide their course.
“We obviously know what course they choose and they seemingly ‘save life’ by reversing the snap.
“But in so doing, they introduce half of the universe after it was gone for five years. This spirals life into an unrecoverable chaos.
“Consider some examples: everyone who was snapped is returned to where they were when they were snapped. People would have been mid-flight as we saw at the end of Infinity War or trapped under rubble caused by an earthquake.
“Children who were snapped would be the same age but their friends would be five years older, destroying their relationships.
“Parents of young children who were snapped would return to find their children missing or dead since no one was there to care for them.
“Spouses would return to find their spouse re-married. Property owners would return to find their property gone as well as all of their finances.
“Having half the population gone for five years would mean that resource and food production would be severely reduced and unable to support the immediate return of half the population.
“What this would leave us with is utter chaos, self-destruction and the collapse of sentient life. Thus Thanos still wins.”
