Avengers Endgame spoilers: Did you spot THESE Easter eggs? Thanos' FATHER and more

Avengers: Endgame is full of hidden nods and winks to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here are some, but undoubtedly not all, of the Easter eggs in Avengers: Endgame. Warning, there are major spoilers beyond this point for Avengers: Endgame.

Thanos’ father

Five years after Thor cut of Thanos’ head, nothing much has changed for the superheroes.

The year is 2023 and Captain America is leading a support group, populated by not one but two major Marvel figures.

The less obvious face in the group is none other Jim Starlin, the creator – or father if you will – of Thanos’ for Marvel Comics

He’s also the auteur behind the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, upon which much of this saga is built.

LGBTQ representation

Avengers: Endgame became the frst Marvel film to fetaure an LGBTQ character in one blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.

During a conversation in Cap’s support group, a man played by Joe Russo says he was on a date, using ‘him’ as the pronoun for the person he was seeing.

The moment has been hailed by some but for many it is a far cry from the LGBTQ representation fans have been hoping for in the MCU.

Agent Carter TV show

When Cap and Iron Man go back to the 1970s to steal an Infinity Stone, Tony Stark accidentally runs into his own father.

They share a touching scene, which ends with Star Sr getting into a car driven by none other than Jarvis, played in the movie by James D’arcy – who also plays Jarvis in the Marvel TV seires Agent Carter.

AVENGERS ENDGAME: MARVEL GIVES FEMALE FANS MAJOR NOD – IS IT ENOUGH?

Camp Leigh, New Jersey

The location is integral to the MCU and pops up in a few different Marvel films.

In the First Avenger, Camp Leigh is where a scrawny Steve Rodgers is transformed into the muscled Captain America.

Also in Endgame’s 1970s scene is a young Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) developing his shrinking tech.

On his desk is a vintage looking Ant-Man helmet, which just happens to be a comic book accurate original Ant-Man helmet.

End-Game

As Ant-Man leaves his storage facility, the security guard (played by Ken Jeong) is reading a book called Terminal Beach.

The short story collection by JG Ballard features one tale called End-Game.

In addition, Ken Joeng was joined by his Community co-star Yvette Nicole Brown.

Brown appears in the 1970s Camp Leigh, in an elevator with Captain America and Iron Man.

Dialogue throwbacks

In the final moments of Avengers: Endgame, Captain America is preparing to travel back in time to return the Infinity Stones to the moment they were taken.

Steve says to his friend “don’t do anything stupid until I get back,” to which Buck replies: “You’re taking all the stupid with you”

The moment is a verbatim repetition of the heartfelt conversation Steve and Bucky from The First Avenger, as Bucky prepares to go to war.

Iron Man also repeats his famous ad-libbed catchphrase from his 2008 debut movie “I Am Iron Man” moments before he dies. 

Cameos

Given the heroes were time travelling through previous films, cameos were always going to be a given.

Stan Lee had a heartwarming final cameo in the 1970s scene.

Here are the rest of the cameos, as far as we could spot: Red Skull; Natalie Portman as Jane Foster; Rene Russo as Thor’s mom Frigga; Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One; John Slattery as Iron Man’s dad Howard Stark; Robert Redford as the Hydra-linked Alexander Pierce; The Winter Soldier’s Brock Rumlow, Jasper Sitwell, and Jack Rollins; and Agent Carter’s Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter.

Avengers: Endgame is now playing in cinemas.
