Brigitte Macron shows off tanned legs in bright red dress to honour Leonardo da Vinci

Brigitte Macron, 66, and her husband, French President Emmanuel Macron, 41, visited Amboise, France – the pretty town where da Vinci saw out his final days. The couple were joined by Italian President Sergio Mattarella and his wife Laura. Making sure to stand out, Brigitte wore a tomato red dress with a ruched bib detail. Black buttons completed the item, which stopped just above her knee, giving onlookers a peek of her tanned, toned legs.

Brigitte teamed the dress with a complimentary red and black bag by Louis Vuitton, and simple black court shoes.

She wore her blonde hair in a side parting  over her shoulder.

Mum-of-three Brigitte kept her makeup simple, opting for nude lipstick and heavy mascara.

As one of the most photographed women in the world, Brigitte knows the outfits that make her look her best, and she often chooses to highlight her legs.

Recently, she joined her husband to present the Simone Veil prize at the Elysee Palace as part of International Women’s Day.

The former school teacher looked radiant as she sported her trademark deep tan and perfectly coiffed blonde locks.

For this occasion she decided to flash some leg in a knee length navy number.

But Brigitte made sure she was still wrapped up to some extent by wearing long sleeves.

Like today’s outfit, the dress featured a high neck with ruching across the left side.

It was cinched in at the waist and the A line skirt gave the outfit a very formal feel.

Red is another popular option for Brigitte, as it complements her honey blonde hair.

Earlier this year, on a trip to Eygpt, Brigitte chose a classic red shift dress.

She covered the outfit with a smart black coat and wore black court shoes.

The First Lady of France is a fashion fan, and often wears clothes from French fashion house Louis Vuitton.

Family

Brigitte Trogneux, as she was born, is the youngest of six children and grew up in Amiens, France.

Her parents were owners of Chocolaterie Trogneux, which had been run by five generations of the family and is now run by Brigitte’s nephew.

Previous marriage

Before her marriage to the current French President, Brigitte was married to a banker, André-Louis Auzière.

The couple wed in June 1974 and had three children before finally divorcing in January 2006. She married Emmanuel in 2007.

Career

Brigitte is famed for being her husband’s secondary school teacher, but she has had a varied working life.

In 1982 she was a press secretary at the Nord-Pas-de-Calais Chamber of Commerce, moving in to teaching two years later.

First Lady attempt

In 2017, Emmanuel made an attempt to give his wife an official paid role in French administration, as First Lady.

This was dashed, however, after an online petition against the move gained 300,000 signatures. Her role has stayed unofficial, although as with previous President’s wives, she does have a small team of staff.

Louis Vuitton

The French luxury fashion house began a relationship with Brigitte in 2015, loaning her outfits for public appearances.

Speaking to business news magazine Challenges, her team confirmed: “Everything has been noted in a register and the loan outs have been systematically returned. And she only wears their outfits for public appearances.”
