Technical Issue Alters Allure of The Seas Itineraries
If you booked a cruise with Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas you may want to check your itinerary as 25 cruise itineraries have been changed.
According to RoyalCaribbeanblog.com, the cruise itineraries were modified due to a technical problem with one of the ship’s three azipods. The azipods are the ships electrical propulsion system that include three stern-mounted propulsion units.

With the technical issue, it appears the ships will have to sail at reduced speeds which means docking times have to be adjusted, primarily for those who have Western Caribbean itineraries.
Some itineraries, mostly cruises headed to the Eastern Caribbean, are changing ports. For instance, instead of stopping in St. Thomas, one itinerary is replacing that stop for a port in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Shore excursions booked through the cruise line that are disrupted because of port stop changes will be automatically refunded.
RoyalCaribbeanblog.com notes that this isn’t the first time Allure of the Seas has had an issue with its propulsion system. The ship had to get repairs in 2017 and 2013, with the one in 2017 resulting in the ship going to dry dock for repairs.
