Spider-Man Far From Home trailer breakdown: Everything you need to know

Far From Home picks up with our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man all the way in Europe. The second trailer for the Spider-Man sequel gives fans a deeper glimpse into Peter Parker’s internal world. The trailer comes complete with a spoiler warning from Tom Holland himself; likewise, if you haven’t seen Avengers: Endgame yet, there are major spoilers below.

Spider-Man Far From Home trailer breakdown

Though many suspected it to be the case, the trailer has confirmed Spider-Man Far From Home takes place after the events of Endgame.

The opening moment of the trailer shows a tearful Parker telling Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) how much he misses Tony Stark.

Iron Spider-Suit

Though his grief for Tony Stark is heavy, Spider-Man is seen wearing the Iron Spider-Man suit made for him by Stark.

But he wears it in the very beginning of the trailer, which takes place in New York City before Parker joins his classmates on a European vacation.

Tony Stark sunglasses

Towards the end of the trailer, Peter is sporting sunglasses which bear a remarkable similarity to Tony Stark’s own shades.

This means the glasses are likely made with Stark tech and are more than meets the eye.

MJ and Peter Parker

Mutual feelings seem to be blossoming between MJ and Peter Parker.

But when Peter works up the nerve to tell MJ how he feels, she instead rumbles his identity as Spider-Man.

The Snap and a Multiverse

The timey-wimey after-effects of Endgame left many Marvel fans wondering what it meant for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The trailer for Spider-Man Far From Home confirms a long-held theory – a multiverse now exists.

Fury said: “The snap tore a hole in our dimension” and it is from this dimension we get Mr Beck, aka Mysterio.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse already teased the idea of a spidey-central multiverse, but how this will play out for Phase 4 of the MCU remains to be seen.

Mysterio is a good guy?

Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, presents in the trailer as a good guy.

As Nick Fury says, “he comes from Earth, just not ours,” implying he’s from a different dimension.

How he wound up in ‘our’ dimension remains unexplained in the trailer.

Mysterio sees it as his duty to control the elementals which have gone on a rampage throughout Europe.

The next Iron Man

The trailer does a good job at teasing Spider-Man as the next Iron Man.

Whether this proves to be the case remains to be seen.

Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and the Avengers

Spider-Man seems to be the only Avenger left standing, with Captain Marvel and Thor both unavailable to help.

But Spider-Man seemingly doesn’t want to take the weight of world-saving onto his shoulders.

Peter doesn’t answer the phone when Nick Fury calls him.
