Avengers Endgame original title REVEALED by director Joe Russo

Last December the first teaser trailer for Avengers 4 launched, revealing the title to be Avengers Endgame. In the run-up, various leaks claimed this was the title, while others suggested Avengers Annihilation and Avengers Infinity Gauntlet. Well, now director Joe Russo has let slip that the latter was the title of Avengers 4 for a while. Speaking with Happy Sad Confused Podcast, he said: “Infinity Gauntlet was the title for quite a long time, actually.”

This isn’t too surprising as, during the press tour for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 back in April 2017, Gamora star Zoe Saldana referred to the then untitled Avengers 4 as “Gauntlet”.

Speaking to the BBC, she said: “The Guardians just shot their part when it comes to Infinity War – the first part – and we all have to go back for Gauntlet later this year.”

At the time Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn claimed she misspoke.

Gunn, an executive producer on Infinity War and Endgame, said: “It’s not the title. My guess is that Zoe just misspoke.”

Russo added: “He’s the greatest.

“He’s the Genghis Khan of the universe.

“He would have the greatest weapon.”
