Choccywoccydoodah CEASES trade: Brighton shop CLOSED leaving chocolate lovers DISTRAUGHT
Famed for its delicious creations adored by celebrities and chocolate lovers alike, Choccywoccydoodah today confirmed it was closing the doors to its Brighton store. The sweet treat business revealed the news on its website today, devastating its fans. A notice was also placed on the outside of the Brighton branch. Choccywoccydoodah once had shops in Covent Garden and Eastbourne, but these have also closed down over the years.
The London branch was open in 2012 but shut last week, while the Eastbourne store ceased trading back in 2005.
Quantuma has been confirmed as administrators and has been contacted for comment by Express.co.uk.
Choccywoccydoodah was first established in 1994 by Christine Taylor and Christine Garratt and fast created a name for itself for its impressive treats, ranging from cakes to Easter eggs.
The company’s profile was boosted with its very own TV show where its chocolatiers showed off its artistic creations for six series.
A-list celebrities from across the globe were featured on the show tasting the delights of Choccywoccydoodah, including Kylie Minogue, Elton John, Simon Cowell and Johnny Depp.
IMDB described Choccywoccydoodah as “a magical chocolate shop which produces amazing cakes for an impressive list of celebrities”.
Chocolate lovers were left distraught by the news, taking to Twitter to express their sadness over the end of the franchise.
One Twitter user said: “So so sad to hear that #Choccywoccydoodah has closed its doors in Brighton.
“An absolutely iconic store which made cake making into an art form.”
Another said: “Devastated to hear that #Choccywoccydoodah has closed for good!
“Their works were stunning & I loved seeing their work in their London shop. Gutted for everyone involved in the business – the 2 Christines, Dave, Tom, Jim the Baker and those skilled workers from behind the scenes.”
One person added: “Gutted to hear #Choccywoccydoodah has now shut in Brighton as well as London.
“Glad I got to try out the cafe last month when I visited Brighton.”
