Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank married at Windsor castle on 12 October 2018. They had been dating for seven years before getting married at a ceremony attended by royals such as Sarah Ferguson, Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth II, 93. The royal is thought to have a close relationship with her family and chose to get married at the same venue as royals, including Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 54, and Meghan Markle, 37, had wed before. The Princess of York wore a stunning specially-made gown which she made sure had a sweet link to other members of her Royal Family.

What was her dress like?

When Eugenie married, she chose to wear a specially-made dress which was personal to her.

She wore a silk, cotton and viscose blend dress which had a fitted bodice and full pleated skirt with a train.

The Princess of York ensured the garment had a low back so she could show of the scar she has from the surgery she got from a childhood operation for scoliosis.

Members of the family often chose British designers for their wedding dress, but Eugenie instead opted to have her dress designed by British-based designers Peter Pilot and Christopher De Vos, who were both born outside the UK.

She matched the dress with a pair of peep-toe satin heels from Charlotte Olympia.

What did her dress mean?

By having a personalised dress, the Princess seemed to take the opportunity to show the importance of her royal family to her.

The design had a fitted top and full pleated skirt, a silhouette which was similar to designs worn before by both Kate Middleton and the Queen.

The dress also had long sleeves like the Alexander McQueen design worn by the Duchess of Cambridge on her wedding day.

The design also featured a shamrock, to pay homage to Sarah Ferguson’s Irish roots, and the York Rose, to represent her family.

Eugenie also included some symbols that were her and her new husband.

The dress included a thistles to represent the couple’s love of Balmoral in Scotland, and ivy to represent their home.

For the reception, Princess Eugenie changed into another custom-made dress, which was designed by Zac Posen.

At another royal wedding last week, Lady Gabriella took a different approach from Princess Eugenie when choosing her dress.

Lady Gabriella chose a lace design and wore a veil, unlike Eugenie.
