X-Men 5: What’s the future of X-Men franchise looking like after Dark Phoenix?

He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think it only makes sense.

“I want to be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know.

“It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity.

“There shouldn’t be two Marvels.”

Certainly, X-Men: Dark Phoenix is pretty conclusive and it’s not like the prequel series of films will jump another decade as then it would be at the same time as original noughties trilogy.

Seeing as the X-Men and other Fox Marvel properties like the Fantastic Four will now enter the MCU, it’s all but certain the characters will be completely rebooted for this separate universe.

Think of it as similar to when Warner Bros cast a new Batman or MGM reboot James Bond.

But just when will the X-Men show up? Well, one Marvel source claims there’s a civil war movie in the works versus the Avengers.

According to We Got This Covered, a Marvel source says that an Avengers vs X-Men movie is “on the cards”.

Allegedly Marvel Studios “will begin building to it” after Fox’s merger with Disney is completed.

Considering the next slate of MCU movies (Phase 4) will be announced this summer, and we already know what most of them will be, it seems much more likely that the X-Men will return after a break of 4-5 years when Marvel Studios release Phase 5.

So just who could play the next Wolverine, the next Mystique, the next Professor X? Fans will have to wait and see.
