X-Men Dark Phoenix end credits: Is there a Dark Phoenix end credits scene?
X-Men Dark Phoenix sees Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) come into her own as a supervillain. The long-running X-Men franchise has had its ups and downs but with Dark Phoenix, the most popular X-Men saga, director Simon Kinberg was determined to deliver a hit. Then X-Men Dark Phoenix arrived and received a string of poor reviews.
Does Dark Phoenix have an end credits scene?
No, the final film in the X-Men prequel series does not have an end credits scene.
The reason is clear – Dark Phoenix is the last movie in the X-Men prequel franchise and doesn’t need to tease an upcoming film.
Likewise, Avengers: Endgame, the final film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Infinity Saga did not have a post-credits scene either.
The origin story is also the last X-Men movie helmed by Fox.
X-MEN DARK PHOENIX: IS DARK PHOENIX THE MOST POWERFUL MUTANT?
Fox was recently acquired by Disney; the latter likely intending to reboot the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Nevertheless, Dark Phoenix’s end credits included a tribute to the late Stan Lee who cameoed in five X-Men movies.
Dark Phoenix is the origin story of the legendary Jean Grey, played by Famke Janssen in five X-Men movies.
Sophie Turner of Game of Thrones fame took on the role for the prequel.
X-MEN DARK PHOENIX CAST, PLOT: SOPHIE TURNER TAKES CENTRE STAGE
The official plot synopsis for X-Men Dark Phoenix reads: “The X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe when one of their own, Jean Grey, starts to spiral out of control.
“During a rescue mission in outer space, Jean is nearly killed when she’s hit by a mysterious cosmic force.
“Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable.
“The X-Men must now band together to save her soul and battle aliens that want to use Grey’s new abilities to rule the galaxy.”
Though X-Men has not been reviewed well by most critics, Express.co.uk took a kinder view to the origin story.
X-MEN DARK PHOENIX TIMELINE EXPLAINED: IS DARK PHOENIX IN THE PAST?
Express.co.uk wrote: “Dark Phoenix doesn’t waste time justifying its existence in the convoluted canon but instead dives into one of the most adult dramas of the superhero genre in recent years – certainly since Logan.
“X-Men Dark Phoenix manages to capture a completely different tone to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s boisterous humour, one that is serious, character-driven and tragic without being dull or pretentious.
“Dark Phoenix sees the X-Men thrown into something of their very own Civil War, with a greying over of who the heroes and villains really are.
“Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult’s performances, in particular, are superb and believable, as their characters struggle with great loss and battle for what they truly believe is right.
“There aren’t many laughs in Dark Phoenix, but it’s not that kind of superhero movie, focusing instead on the characters’ struggles and zooming the audience along through the fast-paced action and impressive visual effects.”
X-Men Dark Phoenix is now playing in cinemas.
