Ghostbusters 3: Did Sigourney Weaver just tease Bill Murray and original cast are BACK?

Thirty-five years on from the original Ghostbusters and a new film in the original series – set aside from the female-led reboot – is coming. Ivan Reitman’s son Jason is gearing up to shoot Ghostbusters 3 and now it looks like all the main cast from the 1980s movies – aside from the late Harold Ramis – will be back. Yesterday, the official Ghostbusters Twitter feed revealed Jason Reitman speaking at Ghostbusters Fan Fest. He said: “We wanted to make a love letter to the original movie.”

He added: “Sigourney has read the screenplay…Dan has read it…Ernie’s read the script…Bill Murray has read the script.”

Seen as a tease that the original Ghostbusters would be back, Weaver has now confirmed she will reprise her role as Dana Barrett.

The 69-year-old actress even appeared to confirm the other three actors would be back.

Speaking with Parade magazine, she said: “It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!”

“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan when I was a six-year-old visiting the set,” Jason Reitman told Entertainment Weekly.

“I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans. This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot.

“What happened in the Eighties happened in the Eighties, and this is set in the present day.”

Ghostbusters 3 is released in UK cinemas on July 10, 2020.
