Prince Philip's Meghan Markle warning to Harry before their royal wedding – shock claim

The snap was accompanied by the heartfelt but simple message: “Happy Father’s Day! And wishing a very special first Father’s Day to The Duke of Sussex!”

Although Prince Philip and Prince Harry are believed to share a close bond, the outspoken 98-year-old is reported to have warned his grandson of the dangers of marrying former Suits actor, Meghan.

And it is reportedly not the first time Prince Philip has waded into discussions over marriage.

According to The Sun in 1997 he said: “Tolerance is the one essential ingredient.

“You can take it from me that the Queen has the quality of tolerance in abundance.”

The alleged remark featured in a Sunday Times Magazine article by Sophie Money-Coutts.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl has previously claimed a feud arose between Princes William and Harry over the former’s fears of the latter’s relationship with Meghan Markle developing “too quickly”.

Speaking in a TLC documentary on the royals, she said: “William was quite concerned that the relationship had moved so quickly.

“And being close to Harry, you know, probably the only person close enough to say to Harry ‘this seems to be moving quickly, are you sure?’

“And I think what was meant as well-intended brotherly advice just riled Harry.”

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on Philip’s alleged statement about Meghan, according to The Sun.

Prince Philip attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May last year amid speculation he would miss the big day while recovering from a hip replacement operation.

The Duke of Edinburgh was also one of the first to meet Meghan and Harry’s son after his birth in May.

Of the way Meghan and Harry are likely to bring up their baby boy, Archie Harrison royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams previously told Express.co.uk: “Meghan will be based at Frogmore House on the Windsor estate where she should have the privacy she needs.

“Meghan will obviously want to bring up her child in as normal a way as possible and is certain to be given every chance to do this especially as Harry is 6th in line to the throne.

“Kate is the future Queen Consort and her children include George, the future king so her choices are less free.

“The issuing of periodic photographs of George, Charlotte and Louis to the press has, on the whole, worked well though there have been occasional complaints of harassment.”
