Avengers sequels bad news: THESE heroes 'will be DROPPED to make way for NEW characters'

Iron Man and Captain America have completed their story arcs, with varying amounts of fan tears and backlashes. Thor looks likely to head off with the Guardians of the Galaxy on what is expected to be their final outing. But what about the likes of Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp? They are all only mid-way through their expected trilogies. Of course who says any character actually has to have a trilogy? Who, exactly, is about to be “shelved”?

Proudly named Redditor The Marvel Scoop Master has a strong track history with the recent revelation Robert Pattinson was the next Batman and just posted a breakdown of which Marvel characters might be sidelined.

It said: “Marvel Studios now has more characters then they know what to do with. Many of them are going to need to be put aside. Already now people want X-Men and F4 but Marvel has 3-5 years worth of films to work through first. So unless Marvel wants to wait decades to resolve all these characters stories then introduce F4, some characters will need to be put aside…

“For better or worse, with Marvel getting a bunch of new characters soon this is going to be the case for a lot of characters. I don’t know who exactly will be shelved but expect a lot of characters to be set aside.”

There will be some exceptions though…

“The only exceptions I’d say are Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange.”

Which basically only leaves one ongoing franchise.

The Redditor added: “Marvel Studios will need to shelve some characters and Ant-Man/Wasp, while great characters, may be casualties of this…

“Essentially they won’t be making an Ant-Man 3 any time soon and the characters will be relegated to supporting characters in other films or at the very least being used in Avengers. They’ll still be in the MCU, just in a diminished capacity. Similar to Tony after Iron Man 3. He was still in the MCU but was not appearing in films with any set regularity or schedule.”

Spider-Man is up next in July, and the introduction of Mysterio is seen as a precursor for the Sinister Six. Whether they have their own spin-off or are Spidey’s main antagonists in a third film remains to be seen.

Other popular characters like Hawkeye, Loki, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier and the new Captain America area ll expected to appear first in their own spin-off limited series on Disney Plus when it launches in December.
