Ridley plays Rey in the Star Wars saga; and will be seen as the character for the final time in The Rise of Skywalker at the end of the year.

But before she was cast in a galaxy far, far away, she made a low-budget horror called Scrawl.

The film is only just finding its way to release now – five years after being filmed.

As the trailer spreads around the internet, Star Wars fans have been left confused by the fact that she’s in a low-key film of this ilk – unaware of how old it actually is.

Commenting on YouTube, one person wrote: “I mean… I’m all for low budget horrors… but Daisy in this is just mad random.”

Someone else said: “The fact that Daisy ‘Rey’ Riddley plays a part in such a low budget movie is actually confusing and irritating to me.”

“WTF is a jedi doing low budget horror!?GET BACK TO WHAT YOU WHERE DESTINED TO BE!BE A JEDI!” commented a third.

According to Flickering Myth, it all predates her Star Wars work – but is out now in the US via WildEye Releasing on DVD and VOD.

The synopsis reads: “Simon Goodman (Liam Hughes) is a 16-year boy living in a rundown seaside town.

“With his best friend Joe Harper (Joe Daly), they create a comic book called SCRAWL as a way to escape their reality, gain some notoriety and more importantly pick up girls.

“Annie Williams (Annabelle Le Gresley), a girl who hides behind her camera and cannot forget the past gets wrapped up in the boys new world, along with Joe’s sister Rosie (Ellie Selwood) and suddenly, with the appearance of a mysterious girl, Hannah (Daisy Ridley), events in the comic book start to invade their reality and situations in the comic book come to life.”

It adds: “At first it’s great; girls start to become interested in the boys, and all seems fun, but then the monsters of the comic book begin to show themselves, and the boys realize that the comic depicts a bloody great massacre at page 21.”

Ridley is believed to currently be wrapped up in Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker reshoots, though this has not been confirmed.

Principle photography wrapped on the saga finale back in February, so now seems a logical time for last-minute additions and corrections to be filmed.

Making Star Wars reported that the reshoots are no more excessive than they would be for any other typical Hollywood movie, and are no cause for concern among fans.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is out on December 19 in the UK.
