Star Wars Episode 9 trailer: When will the Rise of Skywalker full trailer be released?
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is not out in cinemas until December 19, 2019. Yet in the interim fans are still scouring the internet for any clue to validate their fan theories and speculations. A huge boon to these fans would be the full-length trailer, which has yet to debut.
When will The Rise of Skywalker full-length trailer be released?
As of writing, there is no official release date for the full-length trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The first teaser, which screened at the Star Wars Celebration in April was just that; a teaser.
Which means fans are waiting impatiently for a trailer which gives a more substantial look at the world post The Last Jedi.
However, some believe this may be it; after all, Star Wars is a franchise which may not need that extra marketing boost for its final film in the Skywalker Saga.
STAR WARS EPISODE 9: EMPEROR PALPATINE IS ‘DEAD’ – BUT IS HE REALLY?
This is highly unlikely, though, and a full-length trailer is likely to debut around October 2019.
The speculation for this date stems from both The Force Awakens’ and The Last Jedi’s promotional material timelines.
The two contemporary Skywalker saga films had their teasers released in April during the Star Wars Celebration.
Teasers for both films were then followed by a full-length Star Wars trailer in October.
STAR WARS EPISODE 9 THEORY: WHY IS REY IS LOOKING FOR THE DEATH STAR?
This release also coincided with the ticket presales going live, meaning fans were overwhelmed – in a good way – by Star Wars.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens did have two teasers, with its first debuting more than a year before the film hit cinemas.
As the first movie since the ill-fated prequels, The Force Awakens likely needed an extra marketing boost.
But some fans believe The Rise of Skywalker may be in the same position.
STAR WARS EPISODE 9: THIS IS HOW EMPEROR PALPATINE COULD RETURN
After the backlash to The Last Jedi and the relative flop of Solo: A Star Wars Story, casual fans may need an extra push to get them back to the cinema for yet another Star Wars film.
There is little difference between a teaser and trailer, especially for the tentpole movie-events like Star Wars and Marvel.
In general, teasers offer a glimpse at footage out of context and chronology.
Full-length trailers, on the other hand, offer a fuller narrative preview.
STAR WARS EPISODE 9 TITLE: WHAT RISE OF SKYWALKER COULD REALLY MEAN
However, Marvel has already proven that trailers aren’t always to be trusted.
Avengers: Infinity War’s trailer showed the Hulk in one scene, but when the movie came to cinemas it turned out he wasn’t in the scene at all.
Likewise, Endgame’s trailer made no mention of the five-year time jump between several scenes, with many being told out of order.
All this to say, even Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’s full-length trailer may still be deceitful.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is out in cinemas on December 19, 2019.
