Frozen 2 release date: When is Frozen 2 out in UK and USA cinemas?

The Frozen sequel, stylised as Frozen II, sees its auteurs Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee return to the land of Arendelle. Elsa and Anna are travelling far from their homeland in order to save it. Within the first 24 hours of the trailer’s release, it was viewed 116.4 million times making it the most-watched trailer for an animated movie, ever.

When is Frozen 2 out in UK and US cinemas?

Unlike cynics might think, Frozen 2 was not guaranteed.

In March 2014, after the first Frozen was released, producer Peter Del Vecho said that the team worked well together.

He added: “I believe we will be developing a new project. But I don’t know what that is right now.”

Likewise, Disney CEO Bob Iger said told David Faber Disney would not “mandate a sequel” or “force storytelling” for a potential Frozen 2.

And here we are, with a Frozen 2 on its way to the delight of fans.

Both the UK and the USA will get Frozen 2 at the same time, on November 22, 2019.

The sequel was announced on March 12, 2015, at Disney’s annual meeting of shareholders in San Francisco.

Most cast members are reprising their roles, including Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, Josh Gad as Olaf, Santino Fontana as Hans

Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K Brown are both starring in undisclosed roles.

At the Annecy film festival in France, Disney showed select completed scenes from the sequel.

The plot for Frozen 2 posits the question: “Why was Elsa born with magical powers?”

It continues: “The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom.

“Elsa encounters a Nokk – a mythical water spirit that takes the form of a horse – who uses the power of the ocean to guard the secrets of the forest.

Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey.

“In Frozen, Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In Frozen 2, she must hope they are enough.”

Frozen 2 is out in UK and US cinemas on November 22, 2019.
