Spider-Man: Far From Home is the final movie in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Three. The film, strictly speaking a Sony vehicle, sets up the future of the MCU while also dealing with the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame. Like any good Marvel movie, the Spider-Man sequel is full of little winks and nods to its fans.

A New Phase

The movie begins with a student newscast at Peter Parker’s school.

The hosts of the show say “it’s time to move on to a new phase in our lives,” a not-so-subtle nod towards the new phase of the MCU.

Pepper Potts

Though Gwenyth Paltrow is reportedly finished with the role, Potts makes a cameo in a very coy way.

A giant check delivered by Happy Hogan to Aunt May’s fundraising event features Potts’ signature.

Big Time

As Spider-Man is hesitant about stepping up, he tells Fury battling the Elementals is “big time superhero stuff.”

This is a reference to a comic storyline called Big Time, where Parker goes beyond the bounds of his neighbourhood.

Spider-Man’s costumes

There is plenty to chew over as regards Spider-Man’s many outfit changes.

In Far From Home, he can be seen wearing his original suit from Homecoming and his Iron-Spider suit.

Tiger

In the comics, Mary Jane frequently calls Peter Parker by the nickname ‘tiger’.

Though MJ in the new films has yet to say the word, she wore a very cool sweatshirt with the animal emblazoned on the front.

Back In Black

Aboard Happy Hogan’s ship, Spider-Man is tasked with building himself a new suit of armour.

While he works, Hogan puts Back In Black by AC/DC on the stereo; the very song used to open the first Iron Man movie.

What’s Next

During the mid-credits scene, Peter Parker takes MJ swinging through Manhattan.

When they land a construction sign behind the pair reads: “We can’t wait to show you what’s next!” with the numbers one, two, and three, followed by a question mark.

Nick Fury

Fury tracks down Spider-Man in Venice and finally gets the teen to talk with him by lying in wait in Parker’s hotel room.

This is the same tactic Fury employed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Steve Rogers returned to his apartment to Nick Fury sitting in the dark waiting for him.

Though in reality, the post-credits scene throws this Easter egg into a whole new light.

The Daily Bugle

Now a website, The Daily Bugle and its publisher are back for a mid-credits scene cameo.

J. Jonah Jameson, played in this and previous Spider-Man movies by JK Simmons, appears on an electronic billboard to unmask Spider-Man to the world.

Uncle Ben

The suitcase Peter uses for his European holiday has the letters BFP embroidered in.

They likely stand for Benjamin Franklin Parker, Peter’s uncle who has yet to make an appearance in the MCU.
