Lion King length: How long is the Lion King remake?
The 1994 Disney classic The Lion King has been remade and on Sunday night had its premiere in London. Starring Beyonce, Donald Glover, Seth Rogan and Chiwetel Ejiofor, the star-studded film will open in the UK and USA on Friday, July 19. Featuring reimagined songs from the original, scored by Hans Zimmer, The Lion King could be another nostalgia-filled epic like the remakes Dumbo, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast before it.
How long is the Lion King remake?
The official runtime of the new film comes in at just two minutes under two hours, at 118 minutes.
Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King is rated as PG or Parental Guidance.

Disney fans are eagerly anticipating the film’s release, taking to Twitter to express their excitement.

“Disney is going to make a killing with these once per generation remakes. FOREVER!!!!”
And a third posted: “Actually can’t wait for the lion king, been so excited leading up to the release.”
Reviews for the film have so far been lukewarm, gaining just 59 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, this is unlikely to be the final score as this is based on critic views alone.
In a review in The Telegraph, the film was described as having “astonishing photoreal visuals”.
The review read: “You might imagine that easy-breezy, Hakuna Matata-chanting middle act would only work when drawn by hand.
“Yet cinematographer Caleb Deschanel’s expert command of ‘natural’ spectacle and the sheer exuberance of Rogen and Eichner’s performances make it the film’s most purely delightful section.”
Whilst the Guardian said the “deepfake copycat ain’t so grrreat.”
You can make your own mind up when The Lion King is released in cinemas on Friday, July 19 in the UK and USA.
