Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall turns 72 TODAY – see the best pictures from the past year

Camilla Parker Bowles celebrates her 72nd birthday today.

The Duchess of Cornwall, who has been in Devon and Cornwall this week on a royal visit to the region, will spend her special day with her husband Prince Charles, 70, in Somerset.

The royal couple, who have been married for 14 years, will attend an event the mark the 70th anniversary of the National Parks at a Big Picnic in Exmoor National Park.

On Monday, during a trip to the Eden project, the Duchess received an early birthday card and was serenaded by steel band who struck up the tune of Happy Birthday to mark the special occasion.

Camilla has had a busy 12 months attending various royal engagements throughout the year from State Banquets at Buckingham Palace to award ceremonies at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Duchess also embarked on a royal tour of the Caribbean with the Prince of Wales back in March.

Charles and Camilla took part in more than 50 engagements over the course of their two week trip and visited St Lucia, Barbados, Cuba, Grenada and the Cayman Islands to name a few.

Pictures show Camilla eating ice-cream with Dame Judi Dench in the Isle of Wight last year and with Queen Letizia of Spain, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge at the Order of the Garter service in June.

Her Royal Highness was also photographed at the annual Trooping The Colour parade and at Royal Ascot 2019 with the Queen.
