May was asked would she give Jacob Rees-Mogg a Cabinet position – this was her reaction…
Speaking to LBC’s Iain Dale, the Prime Minister was grilled on a variety of topics and even answered questions from listeners.
One texted in and asked when the Tory leader was planning to give the North East Somerset MP a cabinet job.
Mrs May laughed off the suggestion and said: “Jacob is a great colleague and he makes a huge contribution in the House of Commons.
“It’s always worth listening to Jacob’s contribution in the House of Commons because he is a great history buff and you learn an awful lot when you listen to him.”
The interview comes as some have tipped the Leave campaigner to become the next leader of the Conservative party.
The outspoken MP is second only to David Davis in the race to take over from Mrs May, according to statistics from betting tracking firm BetData.
The Brexit Secretary currently leads the race with 16 per cent of the vote, with Mr Rees-Mogg close behind with 11.8 per cent.
Mr Rees-Mogg told Express.co.uk last week that a vote for him to move into Number 10 might not be a wise idea.
He said: “A fool and his money are soon parted.
“It’s very flattering and very amusing, but I wouldn’t advise your readers to invest with the bookmakers if they want a long-term investment strategy.
“I think there are better ways of making their money work for them.”
During Wednesday’s interview with Dale, Mrs May also warned potential Tory revolters “there is no such thing as an unsackable minister”.
She added: “But at the moment the team is together and we’re getting on with the job of delivering what we believe the British people want us to do.”
