Star Wars 9 Rise of Skywalker trailer: Major clue to who abandoned Rey – Is it SPOILER?

It’s the subject that goes round and round. Ever since Rey first appeared, fans have been convinced the secret of her parentage will be a huge plot point. Otherwise, what was the point of the flashback vision where she saw her toddler self abandoned as a ship blasted away? All of JJ Abrams vision sequences were rather derailed by The Last Jedi, but there is strong belief much of it will be brought home in The Rise of Skywalker. And the trailer has a major clue hidden away which points directly back to that flashback sequence on Jakku.

The first half of the trailer is entirely devoted to the scene with Rey and a speeder.

The very first scene after that shows a ship flying towards a spectacular. Look more closely at that ship.

Then look closely again at the memory Rey has of the ship which left her behind as a very young girl. 

Theories are spreading that it is the same ship. And major fan sites like MakingStarWars.Net have a good idea who was piloting the ship.

The site said: “We have some reason to think the ship is pretty important. The obvious part is that it looks like the ship that dropped Rey off on Jakku in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I’ve heard that Rey comments on the familiarity of the ship itself in the film as well….

“Does the ship belong to Zorri Bliss who is seen on the planet where we see the ship in the trailer?”

Zorri Bliss is the mysterious new character who will be played by Keri Russell.

Early speculation believed she could be a Knight of Ren or a mercenary working for Kylo Ren. Now, many believe she is more likely to be the latest in a long line of scoundrels like Han Solo or Lando Calrissian who aren’t exactly law-abiding but whose hearts end up in the right place. 

One new theory suggests Zorri might have bought Rey from her no-good parents or been contracted to transport her – but then decided to help the child and left her on Jakku in an attempt to save her from a worse fate.
