Princess Eugenie v Princess Beatrice: Which sister's style 'follows royal protocol' more?

When it comes to royal sisterhood, Princess Eugenie and her older sister Princess Beatrice are the epitome. The royal sisters were born just 19 moths apart to Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew. Beatrice and Eugenie are currently ninth and tenth in line to the throne respectively. Despite growing up in the Royal Family, the two have enjoyed more privacy than their cousins Prince William and Prince Harry – which could have made the York sisters even closer. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “Beatrice and Eugenie are the closest of sisters.”

Eugenie has previously spoken about how close she is to her sister.

Giving her first media interview in 2008, she said: “We get on fantastically well, perhaps because we do and think different things. I am definitely not as polite as Beatrice, I have to say. I tell it as it is.”

But does their close bond translate to their style?

Stylist Melita Latham analysed some of the sisters most recent looks, including when they’re out on date nights with their partners, and she told Express.co.uk that they have “completely different styles.”

She said: “Princess Beatrice and princess Eugenie have completely different styles which I think reflects their personalities and is a representation of their relationships too.”

In June, the sisters attended Royal Ascot together. For the racing event, Eugenie opted for a turquoise and yellow gown, which she teamed with a yellow head piece. Meanwhile, Beatrice could be seen wearing a corn-flour blue crochet dress, which she paired with a matching blue hat.

Weeks before, they attended the Trooping the Colour ceremony. Both women could be seen wearing black and white hats, but while Eugenie teamed hers with a floral blue dress, Beatrice opted for a pale pink dress with a braided detail on the sleeves.

Melita continued: “Princess Eugenie has a look of comfort with class whereas princess Beatrice does appear to follow royal protocol more so than her sister.”

Earlier this year, Eugenie was pictured coming out of Annabel’s nightclub with her husband Jack Brooksbank, 33.

Wearing a pair of jeans, black boots, a blazer and khaki shirt, the royal looked very relaxed as she held onto her husband’s hand.

This contrasted greatly to Beatrice’s look last month when she attended an event in London with her boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 36.

The red-haired beauty was spotted wearing a black blazer and shirt, which she tucked into an a-line copper skirt. She completed the look with a pair of pointy-toed heels and a clutch bag.

Melt added: “Eugenie is not afraid to rock a pair of black boots and jeans when in the hands of her equally relaxed husband.

“They are after all humans and comfort is so important considering the glare of the public eye can somewhat be intimidating.

“Beatrice looks fantastic in her style choices however they are reminiscent of her peers.”
