Back in 2011, and Prince William said “I do” at a lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Both the bride and groom had the support of their family and siblings, with Prince Harry as William’s best man and Pippa Middleton as Kate’s maid of honour. Dressed in their military uniforms, Prince William and best man Prince Harry arrived together to Westminster Abbey. Maid-of-honour Pippa followed behind with the page boys and flower girls, who included Eliza Lopes, the daughter of William and Harry’s stepsister.

Then arrived Kate with her dad Michael Middleton in the back of a Rolls Royce Phantom VI.

For the day, Kate wore a gorgeous lace dress by Sarah burton, creative director at Alexander McQueen, which was kept secret until the big day.

Kate also wore the Cartier Halo tiara, which she borrowed from Queen Elizabeth II.

But although she was marrying into the Royal Family, Kate didn’t leave out her own family, as she paid homage to them with her choice of earrings.

The 37-year-old wore a pair of Robinson Pelham earrings with stylised oak leaves and suspended diamond pavé acorns.

The earrings were a gift to Kate from her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.

The acorn and oak leaves also appear on the Middletons’ coat of arms, and symbolise the trees in Berkshire where they live.

Kate didn’t have a coat of arms until her father was granted arms before her wedding. He had the arms designed with acorn sprigs, one for each of the Middleton children, to represent strength and the family’s home in Berkshire.

They include a gold chevron in honour of her mother’s maiden name, Goldsmith, and two white chevrons to represent the mountains and the family’s love of skiing.

Earlier this year, Kate was pictured wearing the same earrings as she attended Easter Service with the family on 21 April.

As she wore a pale blue coat and grey fascinator, the diamond earrings could be spotted from a mile off.

The Duchess of Cambridge has rarely worn the precious jewellery since her wedding day, but she did step out with them in 2016, during the Order of the Garter service at St. George’s Chapel.

Express.co.uk recently revealed that Kate had borrowed over £2 million worth of jewellery from the Queen since marrying into the Royal Family.

From her wedding tiara, to the Lover’s Knot tiara she has worn on several occasions, Kate has dipped int the Queen’s vault multiple times.
