Meghan Markle style: How her fashion has changed since becoming a mum to Archie

A lot has changed for Meghan Markle in the past couple of years. Not only has she gone from being a US actress starring in law drama Suits, to a member of the Royal Family following her marriage to Prince Harry, 34, last year, but this year she also became a mum for the first time. On 6 May, Meghan and Harry welcomed their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. He was christened on 6 July, at Windsor Castle’s Private Chapel with just a handful of Harry and Meghan’s closest family and friends. Following the big day, Meghan and Harry released two photos – one of which saw them cradling their son in his christening gown.

But has Meghan’s style changed since becoming a mum?

Stylist Melita Latham analysed photos of the Duchess from before she became a mum to the styles she’s recently worn, and she told Express.co.uk that the Duchess’ style has become more “relaxed.”

Last month, Meghan was pictured at a polo match in Berkshire wearing an oversized khaki dress.

Melita explained: “Since becoming a mum, it’s only natural to want to hide her mummy tummy initially especially being in the public eye. You can see this with her fashion choices of late – the khaki green flowing dress, which is very low key and doesn’t figure hug. The last thing she will want is to feel uncomfortable in the clothes she wears.”

“All new mums will tell you the elation they feel when they shimmy back into their perfect pair of fitted jeans or pre-pregnancy clothes.”

Following the birth of her son, Meghan was pictured at Wimbledon 2019 in a pair of jeans and a white blazer.

Melita revealed that Meghan chose this outfit to feel good, after having a baby.

She said: “Meghan Markle wore a pair of jeans at Wimbledon shortly after becoming a mum to baby Archie. She would have felt fantastic and she looked great.

“Her style has definitely become more relaxed, and like all mums you still want to look great, but she will be thinking about taking a step back and focus on the priority, her child.”

Nevertheless, Melita added that it might not be long before Meghan returns rot her figure hugging outfits.

“Meghan will be back to the glitz and glamour, but in her own time when she is feeling confident enough to do so.”
