The Irishman Netflix release date PLUS a runtime that is much LONGER than Avengers Endgame

Over the years Martin Scorsese has delivered some of the most iconic gangster movies of all time. From Goodfellas to Casino, the Oscar-winning director is teaming up once again with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci for a generation-spanning epic, alongside Al Pacino. The Irishman is Netflix’s biggest bet for the 2020 Oscars race and now has its release dates and run time revealed. Firstly, the film will be on limited release in cinemas from November 1, before arriving on Netflix on November 27.

A similar release pattern was used for Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma, which was the darling of this year’s awards season.

At the moment it’s unclear if these dates are the same for the UK, but it’s likely that they’re very similar at the least.

But aside from the release dates, the running time for The Irishman has been unveiled by the New York Film Festival’s official website.

And boy if you thought Avengers Endgame’s three-hour run would be the longest major film of 2019 you’ve got another thing coming.

The director said: “I’m extremely honoured to be having the International Premiere of The Irishman at the closing night of the BFI London Film Festival.

“This picture was many years in the making. It’s a project that Robert De Niro and I started talking about a long time ago, and we wanted to make it the way it needed to be made.

“It’s also a picture that all of us could only have made at this point in our lives. We’re all very excited to be bringing The Irishman to London.”

The Irishman is released in cinemas on a limited run from November 1, before streaming on Netflix from November 27.
