It Chapter Two has just come out and fans are happy to see The Losers Club reunited. One loser, however, reveals some surprising truths about his personal life. And fans are questioning what this could all mean.

**WARNING IT CHAPTER TWO SPOILERS**

Is IT Chapter Two’s Richie gay?

In Stephen King’s original novel, there is not direct suggestion that the character of Richie Tozier is gay.

But in IT Chapter Two Richie, played by Finn Wolfhard and Bill Hader in their different iterations, seems to fear being exposed, as Pennywise reveals in a terrifying moment near a Paul Bunyan statue.

He is bullied and forced to leave an arcade after trying to ask a boy to play video games with him, and he is spotted scratching his initials into a fence, as if he is waiting for someone to complete the etching.

It turns out director Andy Muschietti did make a conscious choice to include this detail, as he told Cinemablend: “It’s part of the exploration of what the fears of these characters as adults are.

“And even though it’s a departure from the book, I thought it was relevant, and was part of the things that an adult can be scared of.

“This movie has a more mature perspective than the first one, which is seen through the eyes of the kids.

“So, you know, the fear of exposure, someone that has been sort of hiding his sexual identity because of fear of humiliation.

“And it’s definitely connected to an event that happened in his childhood, a traumatic event.

“I thought it was relevant and valid.”

Bill Hader, however, said sex and relationships were all “part of his humour” as he tries to build a constructed persona to hid his true self, certainly suggesting his sexuality was something had tried to hide.

Hader added he and the director had discussed it, so it clearly had a part in the film.

Is Richie in love with Eddie in IT Chapter Two?

At the end of the film, Richie added the letter E to his scratchings on a fence.

This came after Eddie, one of the Losers Club and someone Richie regularly bickered with, sadly died at the hands of Pennywise.

Some fans have speculated how perhaps Richie was in love with Eddie, while others believe this is just a show of affection and respect of their long-lasting friendship.
