Meghan Markle cuts casual look in £130 denim dress to watch Serena Williams at US open

Meghan Markle is the Duchess of Sussex who is married to the Queen’s grandson, Prince Harry, 34. She turned heads as she opted for a casual denim shirt dress as she supported Serena Williams, 37, at the US Open. The Duchess has been keeping a low profile since the birth of her son, Archie Harrison, four months, but she was spotted at the sporting event in New York City. Usually known for wearing stunning pieces from her designer wardrobe, Meghan mixed it up by opting for a modest high street design.

Meghan caught attention in the blue denim shirt dress which cut off just above the knee.

The design had long sleeves which she rolled up and it had white buttons down the entire length of it.

The former actress left the top few buttons undone which revealed a gold necklace with the letters ‘H’ and ‘A’ on it, paying sweet tribute to her husband and son.

Far from the pricey designer looks Meghan usually choses, she wore a J. Crew denim dress which was selling for a modest £132, but it now sold out.

The dress had two large pockets on either side of the chest and featured a denim belt which pulled her in at the waist.

The Duchess of Sussex bared her legs in the short dress and had a pair of large sunglasses hooked on the collar of the design.

She stayed warm with a thin grey coat which was rested over her shoulders.

The light grey cardigan coat was also from from J. Crew and is selling for just £105.

In her hands, Meghan was spotted carrying a large grey leather bag and her stunning engagement ring could be seen on her left hand.

She wore her long hair down and styled into a middle parting with a loose curl.

The Duchess kept her make-up simple with a slick of bronzer and coat of mascara.

When she steps out, the Duchess will usually opt for designer items and it was revealed her royal wardrobe costs three time as much as the UK average house. 

It is also thought to cost a staggering 400 times as much as the average consumer’s wardrobe.

Since becoming part of the Royal Family, Meghan’s style has changed to suit her important role in the family.

Meghan Markle was born Rachel Meghan Markle, on August 4, 1981 to parents Doria Ragland and father Thomas Markle.

Her father was previously married to Roslyn Loveless and Meghan has two elder half sibling – sister Samantha Markle and brother Thomas Markle Junior.

Actress

Meghan’s first television appearance in the USA was in an episode of the medical drama General Hospital in 2002.

She later moved on to roles in CSI, Without a Trace and Castle along with bit parts in Hollywood films including Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me and Horrible Bosses.

Meghan was also a “briefcase girl” on Deal or No Deal – but her most famous role was as Rachel Zane in legal drama Suits, which launched in 2011.

She was written out in the finale of the seventh series when her character got married, which aired in April 2018 – just before she got married herself.

Charity and humanitarian work

Meghan Markle’s career in television has gone hand-in-hand with her support for causes close to her heart.

She wrote about the stigma around menstrual health in an article for Time magazine and was a Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada – with whom she travelled to Rwanda for the charity’s Clean Water Campaign.

And her commitment to gender equality has seen her work with the United Nations – receiving a standing ovation in 2015 for her speech to mark International Women’s Day.

Relationships

In September 2011, she wed film producer Trevor Engelson, who she began dating in 2004.

But the pair divorced two years later in August 2013, citing irreconcilable difference.

She was in a relationship with celebrity chef Cory Vitiello for almost two years, before they broke it off in 2016 but the two remain good friends.

And in June 2016, she met Prince Harry on a blind date set up by a mutual friend.

Their relationship began in October that year and just over one year later, on November 27, 2017, the pair announced their engagement.

They married on May 19, 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
