Marvel fans will remember the first MCU end credits scene at the end of Iron Man back in 2008. Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury showed up at Tony Stark’s home and teased his plan to form the Avengers. But now producer and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has released an unseen deleted scene, revealing an alternative version of this scene that teases Spider-Man and the X-Men in the MCU. DiscussingFilm wrote in a tweet: “At the Saturn Awards, Kevin Feige revealed an alternate version of the post-credits scene from IRON MAN with Nick Fury mentioning ‘mutants’ and ‘radioactive bug bites’. It will be included in the upcoming INFINITY SAGA boxset.”

In the video, Feige says: “We have a vault.

“And we pulled some things out of that vault that we said ‘we’ll never show this thing to anybody’. [And we] put it away.

“We’re bringing them out, we’re putting them on this disc and I’m about to show you a deleted scene that has never been seen by anyone before right now.

“Thank you again so much and enjoy.”

After this, an Iron Men end credits deleted scene featuring Nick Fury plays.

In it he teases the existence of the Hulk, Spider-Man and the X-Men, perhaps referring to Tobey Maguire’s Spidey and the Fox X-Men trilogy.

Nick Fury says to Tony Stark: “As if gamma accidents, radioactive bug bits and assorted mutants weren’t enough.

“I have to deal with a spoilt brat, who doesn’t play well with others and wants to keep all his toys to himself.”

Iron Man asks: “Who the hell are you?”

Fury replies: “Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. I’m here to talk to you about the Avenger Initiative.”

Stark questions: “What are we Avenging?” Before Fury adds: “Whatever the hell we want.”

Presumably, the reference to Spider-Man and the X-Men, although Marvel characters, was cut because they were owned by Sony and Fox at the time.

What’s funny is since this scene, Spider-Man has featured in the MCU thanks to a deal with Sony – .

Plus, now that Fox is owned by Disney, the X-Men will feature in the MCU in the future.

Nevertheless, perhaps the scene implies that Feige was trying to get the studios to involve their characters back in 2008 as one fan comments.

They wrote: “This kinda raises the question of whether or not Feige was trying to get Fox & Sony to collaborate with Marvel Studios all the way back in 2008 before Spider-Man 4 was cancelled & Origins: Wolverine was released.”
