Princess Beatrice engaged: The royal has copied Meghan Markle with this element

Princess Eugenie first shared the happy news with a selection of pictures gushing over the couple on Instagram.

Along with three pictures of the couple, Eugenie wrote: “Beabea – wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be.”

An expert explained the ring could have had some similarities to other engagement rings and it draws the most similarities with Meghan Markle’s.

Tobias Kormind, managing director of 77Diamonds.com, said: “Unlike Kate and Eugenie, who were given coloured gemstones, Edoardo has gone for a more modern engagement ring with a diamond, like Harry for Meghan.”

Meghan’s custom-made ring had similarities to Beatrice’s as they both had a central diamond which took centre stage.

The Duke of York Instagram account confirmed the wedding will take place in 2020 and it follows a number of other royal weddings in recent years.

Could this mean their weddings will be similar?

Meghan, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, tied the knot at a ceremony which took place at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018.

This has been the wedding venue of many other royals including Princess Eugenie and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

Although no details of Beatrice’s wedding are confirmed, it is likely she will follow in the footsteps of the Duchess of Sussex and Eugenie to share a wedding venue.

Princess Beatrice’s ring was designed by Edoardo in collaboration with the British jewellery designer Shaun Leane and is thought to have a huge price tag.

Tobias added: “Princess Beatrice’s ring is a beautiful 3.5 carat round diamond, of medium quality, set in an art deco design, with tapered baguettes on each side of the centre stone.

“I would value this ring at £60,000.”

Although the ring is similar to Meghan’s, it still has some notable differences. 

“While Meghan got a cushion cut diamond, an older but more trendy diamond shape, Beatrice has been given the most popular and brightest diamond, a round, accompanied by a pair of tapered baguettes, which creates a very art deco look,” Tobias said.
