James Bond shock NEW favourite to replace Daniel Craig: 007 odds SLASHED after new bets
It has been such a close race for so long. However, the same old names have kept swapping position. It may be wise to accept that Idris Elba has probably timed out. With at least 3-5 years before the Bond universe reboots, he would be at least 50 before he even starts the gruelling franchise. Younger guns like Richard Madden and James Norton have been the hot young favourites but there is suddenly another very strong contender. A series of large bets could imply somebody knows something we don’t…
A major Hollywood star has jumped from 33/1 to 6/1 in the space of a week.
Previously, Norton and Madden were neck and neck, with the resurgence of Peaky Blinders boosting Cillian Murphy’s hopes.
Coral bookmakers just reported: “We saw a few bets over the weekend on Michael Fassbender being the next 007 and cut the odds down to 12-1.
“However we’ve now seen even more support from punters and it has left us with a feeling that a few people out there seem to be convinced they know. He is now just 6-1 to become the next Bond after Daniel Craig and our odds show that he has to be considered a leading contender at this stage.”
What makes it more mysterious is that the German-Irish actor isn’t attached to any major blockbusters, following the disappointing end to the X-Men franchise with Dark Phenix.
Fassbender is currently filming the comedy martial arts movie Kung Fury 2 with Adam Samberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
After that, he is reported to be lining up the dramedy Next Goal Wins, with Thor director Taika Waititi. The movie follows the real-life story of Dutch coach Thomas Rongen, who took on the impossible challenge of turning the disastrous American Samoa soccer team into winners.
Neither project would explain why Fassbender is suddenly pinging the Bond radar.
Either way, he is still behind the perennial trio of Tom Hiddleston, James Norton and Richard Madden.
All three are currently tied out from at 4/1.
Just behind Fassbender is Tom Hardy on 8/1, Cillian Murphy on 10/1 and Idris Elba on 12/1.
Former favourite Aidan Turner has slumped to 20-1.
