Fans were utterly distraught when they learned Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) would be heading away from his current home at Marvel.

It was revealed in August the previously upheld deal between Disney, the company that owns the MCU, and Sony, which owns Spider-Man, had been dropped.

There were claims the contract was “100 per cent dead”, leaving viewers astounded by the decision.

After all, Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the universe, and after the death of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) in Avengers Endgame, fans were hopeful for more from the web-slinging teenager being involved with the Avengers.

But while it seemed Spider-Man was out of the running for good, it’s now emerged Tom Holland cared so much about his role he allegedly made “multiple calls” to Disney and Marvel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Holland contacted Disney CEO Bob Iger and Sony boss Tom Rothman, and begged them to fix the situation.

It seemed his efforts worked, as on September 27 it was revealed there will definitely be a third Spider-Man film.

The character will also reportedly feature in “at least” one more Disney-based Marvel movie too.

The Hollywood Reporter claimed money was the problem, as both studios were reportedly “digging in their heels” after the mammoth box office success of both Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

In the end, the publication reported that Disney had agreed to get 25 per cent of the movie’s profit.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed the decision.

He stated: “I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue.

“I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it.

“Spider-Man is a powerful icon,” the producer continued. “And hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe.

“He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes.

“As Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse, you never know what surprises the future might hold,” Feige added.

Marvel continues its phase 4, and fans are very excited for some of the new projects to come.

Chris Hemsworth is returning as Thor in Love and Thunder, and Natalie Portman is reprising her role as Jane Foster.

Ms Marvel will also be making her way to screens.

Spider-Man 3 is slated for release on July 16, 2021.
