Jurassic World 3: Laura Dern hints at new plot in MAJOR break from Chris Pratt franchise

In two years’ time, Jurassic World 3 will hit cinemas with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning as Owen and Claire. But what’s really excited fans is that the original Jurassic Park trio (Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum) are joining the sequel too. The latter only cameoed in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, but will hopefully have a bigger role in the next film. And now Dern has teased that Jurassic World 3 will “pay homage” to Jurassic Park, so perhaps this means a focus away from the first two Jurassic World films’ Owen and Claire-centric narrative?

Speaking with Total Film, Dern said: “It’s a deep intent both of [director] Colin [Trevorrow] and the entire tribe, including Steven Spielberg, to pay homage to the original and where the franchise has gone from there.”

After highlighting how excited she was to “see how it will all weave together”, the actress admitted Jurassic World 3’s plot “sounds amazing.”

She added: “The idea of bringing back the original cast, in a really beautiful way, it sounds amazing.

“The idea of being back with Sam [Neill] and Jeff [Goldblum] sounds like a dream.”

Meanwhile, Pratt has teased a time jump for Jurassic World 3, which will be set in a Neo-Jurassic Age, as humans and dinosaurs have to learn to coexist.

If anything, it sounds a bit like a mash-up of The Flintstones and The Walking Dead.

In an interview with MTV News, Pratt said: “I can’t say anything, but I can tell you when I heard the pitch, I was blown away.

“I can’t believe that we’re going to make that movie, and I can’t believe they found a way to deliver on the promise of the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

“Like, ‘Wait, what? The island has blown up. The animals are out, we can’t put them back in the box. What are we going to do?’

“‘How are not only these dinosaurs but this technology moving forward going to affect the planet?’”

“We jump forward, and it’s like, ‘Oh! Oh, right! Oh, damn’.”

He added: “It’s going to be pretty epic… You will not be disappointed.”

Last month Jurassic World 3 director Colin Trevorrow released a prelude to the movie.

The short film, which is available for free online, is called Battle at Big Rock.

The synopsis reads: “The short takes place one year after the events of the last Jurassic World film in Big Rock National Park, where dinosaurs are now living in our world. The story follows a family of four whose encounter with these wild animals becomes a terrifying fight for survival.”
