Harry Potter theory: Albus Dumbledore was actually 'time-travelling Ron Weasley'

It’s certainly at the more unconventional end of the Harry Potter theories, but is Dumbledore an older time-travelling Ron Weasley from the future? It’s a theory that’s been around for the last two decades on early forums for the popular books and films. And in one summary of it, that resurfaced a couple of years ago, are some pretty intriguing arguments. Posted on Tumblr, a fan wrote: “OK guys, I am currently reading the series for the first time. But I have seen the theory that Ron is Dumbledore, and I want to take it further.”

They continued: “The theory goes like this: Ron and Dumbledore are both described as tall, thin, and possessing a long nose that has been broken a few times. 

“Dumbledore has long fingers, Ron has large hands. “Dumbledore had red hair, we know this from the memory Tom Riddle had. 

“Dumbledore has a scar above his left knee, Ron injured his left leg.

“Dumbledore seems to know everything Harry and Ron did/are about to do.”

Presumably, an older Ron would have used a time-turner to go back and be Dumbledore. 

Sadly for advocates of the theory, JK Rowling debunked it as false in a tweet back in 2015 – but it’s still a fun one nonetheless.

Meanwhile, another popular theory argues that Hagrid was an undercover Death Eater for Lord Voldemort all along.

This theorist has been re-reading all seven Harry Potter books and points out how Hagrid’s moves aided Voldemort time and time again. 

Of course, they don’t believe JK Rowling meant this intentionally and the theory shouldn’t be taken entirely seriously.

However, he feels the amount of evidence is intriguing and supports the conclusion that Hagrid was a Death Eater all along.

Some of the highlights from the first book include the half-giant’s incredible magical abilities, his participation in cruelty towards Muggles and the subtle manipulation of Harry. 

While in the final book’s Battle of Hogwarts, it’s claimed Hagrid follows Voldemort’s orders, provides valuable intelligence and never fights Dark wizards.

Another theory argues that Tom Riddle was not Voldemort, but Salazar Slytherin reborn.

This theorist argues: “Salazar sought immortality. In fact, Salazar’s last confirmed act alive was concealing a Basilisk inside the Chamber of Secrets.

“What if, he concealed his soul within the Basilisk to prolong his life?” they added.
