Rod Stewart’s new single set to shock fans – THIS is who he’s collaborated with
The hitmaker’s 1978 classic Da Ya Think I’m Sexy? is being re-released – with an addition of DNCE.
The band – fronted by Joe Jonas – previously had a smash hit last year with Cake By The Ocean.
They tweeted tonight: “DNCE x SIR @RODSTEWART?! New version of “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy” drops 8/25.
“Plus we’re performing w/ Rod at the @VMAs! #DaYaThinkImSexy #VMAs”.
It’s not the first time Sir Stewart has revised his iconic anthem.
Back in 1997 he also released a version with N-Trance – which, oddly enough, is almost exactly 20 years old.
That mix peaked at No7 in the UK, where the original peaked at No1.
Stewart himself posted to Twitter: “Introducing the re-imagined “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” ft @DNCE & a newly minted partnership with @republicrecords.”
Excluding the all-star Helping Haiti charity single in 2010, that N-Trance mix of this very song was Stewart’s last visit to the UK Top 10 singles chart, despite his ongoing success with albums.
He reached No2 with his most recent LP, 2015’s Another Country, also hitting the Top 20 in the US.
DNCE’s eponymous debut album reached No17 in the US and No48 in the UK upon its release last year.
