Guess which BIG new blockbuster movie is set to lose over $120 MILLION at the box office?

Every now and then a high-budget blockbuster is a bit of a gamble and ends up flopping at the box office. The latest to take the hit is James Cameron’s Terminator: Dark Fate, which now looks set to lose upwards of $120 million. The Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton-led sci-fi sequel took just $29 million in its US opening last weekend, which was “well behind expectations”, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And with just $94.6 million made across the rest of the world to date, its worldwide total of $123.6 million means some big losses for investors.

Terminator Dark Fate was backed by Skydance Media, Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox, to make up its $185 million budget.

Each studio put in 30 percent of the figure, while China’s Tencent contributed 10 percent.

The flop will be a big disappointment for Cameron and David Ellison’s Skydance, who had attempted to reboot the Terminator franchise.

This follows on from a previous attempt in 2015 with Terminator Genisys, which just about broke even at the box office on $440 million, and had also been planned as the first of a new trilogy.

With such a poor box office taking for Terminator Dark Fate, the possibility of a sequel now looks very unlikely.

Nevertheless, the film’s ending left open a way for the story to continue – but is this what they had planned?

Terminator Dark Fate ended with Sarah and Dani driving off together, with the latter seemingly determined to change the timeline again to save Grace.

How this works without causing a paradox is beyond us.

After all, if Dani stops Grace going back in time to save her, then Dani can’t stop her from going back in time.

But the bigger question is how they would plan to bring back Arnie as the T-800 when once again the model he portrayed perished.
