The Report is the latest political thriller coming from Hollywood. Starring Adam Driver, the movie follows a staff member in the Senate who is called to investigate the CIA’s use of torture after 9/11. Written and directed by No Time to Die director Scott Z Burns, here is everything there is to know about The Report.

When does The Report come out in cinemas?

The Report comes out in cinemas on November 15.

The movie has done the festival circuit, premiering in January at the Sundance Film Festival before it was released across the world at various other events, including the London Film Festival on October 5.

The film will be released in many countries on November 15 before it goes online on Amazon Prime Video on November 29 for the USA, and will likely be released on the platform for the UK not long after.

Who is the cast of The Report?

Adam Driver leads the cast as Daniel Jones, the Senate Intelligence Committee staffer who leads the report into the CIA’s use of torture.

Annette Bening plays Dianne Feinstein, the Senator of California who served on the select committee to scrutinise the report, and she spoke on the Senate floor about the government’s actions after the report was released.

Jon Hamm plays Denis McDonough, the Deputy National Security Advisor at the time of the report, after which he was made the White House chief of staff, serving under Barack Obama.

All of these characters are actually real people, along with various others portrayed in the movie.

Other actors in The Report include Time Blake Nelson, Jenner Morrison, Ben McKenzie, Matthew Rhys as a New York Times reporter, Jake Silbermann, Michael C Hall, Corey Stoll, Maura Tierney, Ted Levine and Scott Shepherd.

Is there a trailer for The Report?

There are multiple trailers, one of which is available to view here at Express.co.uk .

In one of the trailers, it opens with Adam Driver’s Daniel Jones sitting in a car with a New York Times reporter (Matthew Rhys,) who asks him a simple question.

The reporter says: “Let me ask you a question. Why did the CIA torture people, lie about it and hide it from history?”

Daniel replies to the reporter: “After 9/11 everyone was scared. Scared it might happen again.”

He is then given the mandate from Dianne to find out what the CIA did, at which point he tells her: “One detainee, they waterboarded him 183 times.”

Dianne looks shocked and asks: “If it works, why do you need to do it 183 times?”

Daniel quickly replies: “Maybe when the report comes out people will finally see that.”

Quickly, the tension builds as men in suits in various rooms are seen looking pensively out the window, including Jon Hamm’s Denis McDonough.

Daniel shouts: “They claim they saved lives but what they really did was make it impossible to prosecute a mass murderer.

“Because if what we did to him ever came out in a court of law the case is over. The guy planned 9/11.”

He is then heard saying the programme “won’t cause lasting harm,” before mentioning the name of man who is implied to have died during torture, clearly showing how untrue and vile the CIA’s actions really were.

Dianne and Daniel vow to make the report public and certainly The Report will help to further their cause.

The Report is in cinemas on November 15 before it arrives on Amazon Prime Video on November 29 in the USA, with UK online release dates to be confirmed
