Liverpool icon predicts 'deeper and tighter' performance from Man City due to injuries

Liverpool will go all-out attack against Manchester City tomorrow, but the reigning champions are likely to go for a more defensive approach.

That’s the verdict of Reds legend Steve Nicol.

Liverpool host back-to-back campions Manchester City to Anfield tomorrow.

A win can help Jurgen Klopp’s side place one hand on the Premier League title, as they would go nine points clear of City.

Pep Guardiola is facing somewhat of a selection headache, due to the multiple injuries plaguing his squad.

Ederson, Rodri, David Silva and Aymeric Laporte will all be out for the Citizens, while Leroy Sane is also set to miss out.

Due to their absentees, they are expected to take a much more defensive attitude tomorrow afternoon.

But Nicol believes Liverpool will go for it from the first minute, while City will have no choice but to be much more defensive and tight in their approach.

“Liverpool will go for this, 100-per-cent,” he said on ESPN FC.

“I think City will do what they did last year and be a little bit cautious.

“With the back-line they have, they can’t go to Anfield and say ‘let’s open this game up and see who wins’, because there’ll only be one winner.

“If they leave holes, Liverpool will kill them going forward.
