Tommy Fury calls out YouTube star KSI following announcement of December boxing return
Tommy Fury has called out YouTube sensation KSI, following his win over Logan Paul in Los Angeles at the weekend.
Fury’s last fight was in March and has only fought twice as a professional while KSI’s win over Paul was his first bout as a pro.
In the summer, Fury’s profile sky-rocketed after a successful stint on ITV reality show Love Island, where he came second.
Since finishing up with Love Island, Fury, brother of lineal world heavyweight champion Tyson, has reiterated his desire to step back into the ring.
And on December 21 on Daniel Dubois’ undercard, he’ll do just that.
But at the press conference to announce Fury’s return, the light-heavyweight had some choice words for KSI, who has also stated he plans to have more fights in the future.
“This time next year hopefully we will have a big fight,” Fury told BT Sport.
“I’ve heard he wants to continue fighting so if he wants a real fight, he knows where I am.
“He [KSI] is from YouTube and I’m from Love Island and we both have a big following in the UK.
“I’m bringing a whole new audience over of people who have never even watched a fight before.
“It’s not just a fight with blood but it’s an event.
“I do not want to be another reality TV star that has been and gone.
“I want to build on that platform. I’ve established who I am and now I want to come back home and that is in the ring.”
Promoter Frank Warren stated that Fury would go ‘much further’ in his career than the likes of KSI or Paul.
Dubois, who headlines the December 21 show, will take on Japanese heavyweight Kyotaro Fujimoto.
