Star Wars 9 The Rise of Skywalker REVIEWS: What time reactions to Palpatine's return land
The world premiere of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker takes place tonight in Hollywood. However, fans can only expect social media reactions after that, which will be around 6:30am GMT– if the film finishes around 10:30pm PST in Los Angeles. But what about The Rise of Skywalker reviews?
Following the UK press screening of The Rise of Skywalker on Tuesday, the reviews will arrive at 8:01am GMT on Wednesday, December 18th.
This is the same day as the European premiere in Leicester Square.
To give fans an idea of what The Rise of Skywalker is up against, both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi were largely praised by the critics.
JJ Abrams’ Episode VII received 93 per cent positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, while Rian Johnson’s Episode VIII garnered 91 per cent.

Will Darth Vader feature much in The Rise of Skywalker?
Considering how controversial and polarising the response to The Last Jedi was, the critics are fans of the sequel trilogy.
Abrams has returned to conclude the Skywalker saga with Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker and our best bet is a similar score.
His first outing in The Force Awakens was seen as a safe retread of nostalgia, following similar beats to A New Hope.
While Johnson’s The Last Jedi is considered a darker and more subversive entry in the franchise.
The Rise of Skywalker concludes the nine movie spanning Star Wars saga
With Abrams back in the directing chair for The Rise of Skywalker, it will be interesting to see how safe he plays ending the saga.
After all, how will he respond to Johnson’s controversial plot moves involving Snoke and Rey’s parents?
Will he retcon them for a more agreeable ending or surprise us with something as unexpected as some of The Last Jedi’s moments?
Presumably, The Rise of Skywalker will be a bit of both.

After all, he is ending a four-decade spanning story so we’d expect some serious fan service and Easter Eggs.
In fact, Abrams has teased a Star Wars prequels era character cameo in The Rise of Skywalker.
Speaking with SoraNews24, the director was asked who his favourite Star Wars character was, to which he said Han Solo.
The director then asked the interviewer the same question, to which they said Ahsoka.
Abrams replied: “Hmmm, Ahsoka, huh? Well, then you’ll probably want to watch closely during The Rise of Skywalker.”
Ahsoka Tano is the Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, first introduced in the animated Clone Wars movie.
She then featured in the TV show, before returning in Star Wars Rebels in a limited capacity.
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker will be released in UK cinemas on December 19, 2019.
