James Bond: Idris Elba OVERTAKES Tom Hardy in close-run race for new 007
Elba previously spoke out about the possibility of landing the role in the next Bond film after No Time To Die, praising the franchise and the character.
“James Bond is a hugely coveted, iconic, beloved character that takes audiences on this massive escapism journey,” he told Variety.
“Of course, if someone said to me, ‘Do you want to play James Bond?’ I’d be like, ‘Yeah!’ That’s fascinating to me. But it’s not something I’ve expressed, like, ‘Yeah, I wanna be the black James Bond.’”
However, he also admitted to reservations about taking on the role of Bond following a backlash from a small subsection of fans to his name being suggested.
