Guardians of the Galaxy 3: Here's why Drax could DIE – Is it the END for the Guardians?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still a little way off yet following the gang’s last appearance in Avengers: Endgame last year, but fans are already looking ahead at what’s in store for the Guardians. It’s likely Star-Lord (played by Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Groot (Vin Diesel) will be reuniting once again, along with the potential addition of Thor (Chris Hemsworth). But could one be facing their demise this time around?

Drax could be set to meet his end in the next instalment, if new research is anything to go by.

Research counted the movie deaths of world’s the top actors using IMDb and Cinemorgue to analysed which stars were most likely to die on-screen.

While Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington emerged on top as the male actor most likely to appear in a scene in which his character is killed, Guardians of the Galaxy star Bautista also made the list.

Harington’s chances of death in his next project came out as 62.5 per cent, but Bautista wasn’t far behind on 47.7 per cent.

Based on the results of the research, Bautista is at nearly 2-1 to die as Drax when he reprises the role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3., meaning the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Last month, fans of the franchise received some bad news about the third instalment when James Gunn dropped a bombshell.

Engaging with fans — as he often does — on Instagram, the director revealed the release date could be later than expected.

While fans are chomping at the bit to get their hands on the next sequel, they could have to wait as long as 2023, or 2022 at the earliest.

Plot-wise, little is known about what’s to come in Vol. 3, but it is set to pick up after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Following the final battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin), Thor decided ruling Asgard wasn’t right for him and instead chose to join the Guardians on their next adventure, looking likely to feature heavily in the upcoming third film.

Gamora also seems to be back — albeit a past version of her — after previously dying in Infinity War.

Having disappeared, however, following the fight against Thanos, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 could focus on the rest of the team searching for her.
