John Lennon felt Let It Be song wasn't for The Beatles ‘What was Paul McCartney thinking?’

and ’s songwriting partnership was one of the greatest in the history of modern music. However, duo didn’t always agree. From the beginning, Lennon would call some of Paul’s tracks “granny music”.

And when it came to the Let It Be song on The Beatles’ final album of the same name, Lennon was just as critical.

According to UCR, Paul introduced the track to the band in January 1969.

He explained how he had been inspired to write it after having a dream about his dead mother when they were recording 1968’s The White album.

But Lennon did not feel Let It Be was right for The Beatles’ style.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Let It Be (the album and song) and also The Beatles break-up.

Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has helmed a new documentary on the Let It Be recording sessions.

The film will feature mountains of unseen and restored footage from The Beatles’ time at Abbey Road Studios before their split in 1970.

Produced by Disney, the film is called The Beatles: Get Back and will feature the Fab Four’s 42-minute final live performance on the roof of Apple’s Savile Row London office.
