Avengers: Endgame broke box office records last summer and brought the arc of over a decade of Marvel movies to a climactic conclusion. Among the many memorable moments from the movie was a brilliant fight scene which saw Captain America (played by Chris Evans) go toe-to-toe with a past version of himself. Now, a secret about the scene has emerged.

The epic fight occurs when the remaining Avengers split into teams to go back to various points in time in order to steal the Infinity Stones before Thanos (Brolin) can get his hands on them.

Back in 2012, Captain America is faced with the task of taking Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) sceptre from under the watchful eyes of S.H.I.E.L.D, the trickster and, well, himself.

When he gets spotted by his past self, however, things get chaotic.

Naturally, past Captain America assumes future Captain America is in fact a trick being played by the mischievous and untrustworthy Loki.

Thus, ever the worthy soldier, he attempts to take him down.

Cue one of the most talked-about moments in the history of the MCU: a Cap-on-Cap fight scene.

Away from the much-debated “America’s a**” moment, however, there’s an altogether more wholesome details which has been a secret until now.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Avengers: Endgame stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave, who has worked on the Marvel movies since The Avengers, revealed an incredible invisible fact about the scene.

Hargrave said the reason he once again stepped in as (one of) Evans’ stunt double(s) was so the moment he and his brother dominated a standout scene in the final movie of Marvel’s Phase Four would be immortalised on film.

“That stuff lives forever,” he said. “You get to tell your kids, your grandkids, that that was me and my brother doubling and fighting in that movie.”

The stuntman has also worked on Avengers: Infinity War, Captain AmericaL Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Away from the franchise, he has done stunts on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Deadpool 2 and Suicide Squad.
