Avengers Infinity War: Elizabeth Olsen teases major Scarlet Witch plot ‘I feel so lucky’

The film is out this week, with reviews from critics due to hit the internet later this evening.

Speaking to Marvel’s own YouTube channel at the Los Angeles premiere, Olsen promised that her on-screen alter-ego will have her best outing yet.

“I feel so lucky that the writers and Kevin Feige have continued to give me interesting character and storylines,” she said.

“This film, I get to do my favourite character arc yet.”

What exactly that entails remains to be seen, and of course Olsen couldn’t go into any further detail.

But she did speak highly of her experience of making the movie – which was so shrouded in secrecy, stars would often have no idea what they were showing up for work to do.

“You just show up and you’re ready to receive whatever!” she joked.

“You don’t get too attached to anything – which is a really nice exercise.”

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have blacked-out most of their social media feeds in the run-up to the movie’s release; deleting all tweets except a short video saying: “Thanos is coming.”

Several characters are thought to be meeting untimely demises between Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel Avengers 4, and writer Steven McFeely said the losses will be significant.

He told Uproxx: “These two movies are the end of something and the beginning of something else, so we are going to say goodbye to people.

“We’re not just going to say goodbye to ‘seventh Asgardian on the left.’”

On whether Marvel bosses pushed for them to write out certain heroes, McFeely added: “Well, it’s a group effort. So we all sit around and are like, okay, this would be a wonderful conclusion to this person’s arc. And Marvel has to go, well, do we think economically that’s a good conclusion to this person’s arc?

“And that certainly will play into it, but there’s a reason why they’re here – because they don’t run scared.

“And they are not afraid to do the right thing story-wise even if some bean counter says, ‘You could squeeze more money if you kept going.’

“They have a lot of confidence that there are a lot of questions and if you execute them well, people will come to watch them.”

Avengers: Infinity War is out on Thursday in the UK.
