Avengers Infinity War: WHO will DIE first? Get your tissues ready

Fans can’t say they haven’t been warned.

The directors explicitly stated there will be some major casualties and the trailers have given some huge hints.

Express Online readers took a recent poll and voted Iron Man the most likely to die, followed by Captain America, Vision and Loki. All have been shown in extreme danger facing off against Thanos in the trailers, as has Spider-Man.

However, despite Tony Stark’s need to always be first, unless there is a major shock it is clear exactly who will be the first to meet his or her maker, or rather, the first to meet Thanos.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS

Although he is not strictly a hero, this character is a huge fan favourite. His desperate need to belong balanced by his compulsion to reject and destroy trust and love have made Loki irresistible.

Based on the ending of Thor Ragnarok and the scenes shown in the trailers, we fear he could be the character used to set the tone for the rest of the movie and put audiences on the edge of their seats once they realise nobody is safe.

At the end of Thor Ragnarok, as the last remaining Asgardians flee the destruction of the home, Loki and Thor are shown standing on the bridge of ther ship. A huge warcraft appears which has already been confirmed to be Thanos’ flagship.

The trailers have shown dead Asgardians, Loki captured by the Black Order, Loki offering up the Tesseract and Thor spinning through space after some huge explosion.

It seems unavoidable that Loki will die in the early scenes.

He may offer the Tesseract as a bargain for his life, or even offer to serve the Mad Titan as he did before. However, Thanos has no real need to make bargains and is unlikeey to trust Loki after his previous failures. It’s unclear why Thanos would need Loki’s help in any way and, crucially, no other clips from the movie have shown Loki at all while his Black Order have been shown in various other scenes.

Loki may use the Tesseract to stall for time or create some explosion to give Thor a chance to escape. He may betray Thor and try and play both angles, but it seems increasingly likely that Thanos will kill him either way.

All will be revealed when the first screenings take place just after midnight tonight.

Whatever happens, whoever is the first to die, it seems certain they will not be the last.
