Avengers Infinity War: Where's Ant-Man? Paul Rudd speaks out on character's involvement

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD – Do not read on if you have yet to see Avengers: Infinity War.

Ant-Man was not seen in any marketing or trailers for the new film, leading to speculation over what exactly his part in the caper would be.

And now that it’s finally out in cinemas, we know the answer: he’s not in it at all.

That fact makes his interview with the Marvel YouTube channel at the Los Angeles premiere all the more awkward in retrospect.

Asked for teasers on Ant-Man’s plot in Infinity War – which of course turned out to be non-existent – Rudd had very carefully said: “I really have no idea!”

“You’d think I would have been prepped.”

Trying to pick his words very carefully, he struggled on: “I think the general rule… is just don’t spill too many beans.

“You can talk about who’s in it, and a general… you know… the general tone of the thing, which is bananas.”

“And I think we go further in this one.”

Jeremy Renner’s Hawk-Eye was also completely absent from Infinity War, although it’s thought both will appear in next year’s Avengers 4.

And for Rudd, at least, he had a very good logistical reason for being MIA: he has been filming July’s Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Avengers: Infinity War ended with the deaths of multiple MCU heroes, leaving only a select few behind.

So whether or not Ant-Man and Hawk-Eye survived the cull is something else to consider as we prepare to wait for the next movie.
