Double Trouble! Street styles from Topshop, River Island and Hobbs
Do a double take on some of the micro trends that are having their moment.
Fashion is fast these days and we do not want to wait to wear the trends we have seen on the catwalk.
So we have scoured the highstreet so you don’t have to, for the best wearable versions of Fashion Week highlights.
The general style rule to follow right now is to forget the rules and have fun with what you wear.
From crayola brights to sugar coated pastels, the colour game is strong.
Plus florals, polka dots and loose tailoring are all currently centre stage.
Monochrome is the chicest way to wear polka dots
Polka dots
Polka dots not only make us feel happy, they are an easy to way to accentuate a look.
Wear your polka dots in simple, fluid shapes and avoid full circle or pencil skirts which may look too prim.
Anything too structured may lead us to the side of the eighties we do not want to revisit. Instead opt for pyjama style trousers, loose fitting dresses or a simple shirt.
Go monochrome with jeans, add to workwear or simply add a silk skinny scarf to update a look.
Polka dots in monochrome look great with bright coloured accessories.
This bright red cross-body bag from Topshop stands out, or a lime yellow version would work a treat too.
Princess Diana wore hers with pearls and ballet pumps, but for a modern take on a polka dot look, opt for a loafer, lace-up or platform sandal.
Models wear: (L) Top, £30, Trousers, £36, both Topshop, Black Watch, £109.95, Pilgrim (R) Dress, £49, Bumbag, £20, both Topshop
Raid the Pantone colour chart for primary colour takeover
Crayola Brights
Delve into the paint palette for inspiration and add some primary colour to your summer wardrobe, or better still try two together.
Red, blue and green are a force when mixed together and bright yellow knits are selling out as an instant feel good fix.
The Queen has joined the fashion pack with her recent front row debut and no one wears a bright colour better.
Brights help her to stand out so large crowds can easily spot her in the distance at engagements, and maybe we can follow her lead.
Models wear: (L) Shirt dress, £179, Hobbs, Bag, £29.99, Mango, Watch, £89, GUESS Watches, Trousers, £19.99, Bershka, Sandals, £49, Topshop (R) Cap, £27, Urban Sophistication, Jacket, £ 25.99, Blouse £19.99, Skirt, £29.99, all Stradivarius, Rainbow bag, £63.90, Iphoria, Flatforms, £210, Chie Mihara
What would Beyonce do? Definitely choose fringing.
Fringing Galore
What better way to have fun than with a fringed jacket, skirt or bag?
We’re not talking a pretty trim here, think more put it through the shredder length… and swing. (It also gives fantastic boomerang opportunities if you are that way inclined.)
This Asos dress will bring out the best of your Beyonce moves on the dancefloor, and the jacket from River Island will add some swing to a dreary Monday.
Models wear: (L) Earrings, £60, Bimba Y Lola, Jacket, £70, River Island, Sweater, £38, Oasis, Bag, £299, C.NICOL, Trousers, £89, Coast (R) Turban, £30, Soboye, Kodak T-shirt, £30, Jigsaw, Blazer, £89.99, Mango, Dress, £40, Asos, Bag, £129, Guess
Wear your florals loud and proud this season
Blooming Lovely
Wear your florals a little bolder and brighter this summer.
All the style icons from Holly Willoughby, Margot Robbie to the Royals use floral statement prints as a key player in their wardrobe, and now even Harry Styles is joining in too with his floral Gucci two-piece.
Florals aren’t just for dresses either with so many great trouser co- ords and jumpsuits on the market.
The Oriental print Ted Baker bomber jacket is a great multitasker.
Pair with another similar scale print or use it to add interest to simple separates.
The slight shimmer in this bomber makes it a great one to throw over an LBD to take you into the evening too.
Models wear: (L) Top, £36, Topshop, Jacket, £195, Ted Baker, Bumbag, £18, Asos, Skirt, £88, Geo by George (R) Sequin jacket, £95, Green shirt, £50, both Soboye, Necklace, £90, Bimba Y Lola, Floral jeans, £38, Asos
Not just for the office, mix your blazer with denim and embellished sliders
Statement Blazers
The beauty of a structured blazer is that it becomes the emphasis of you outfit and the rest can be as easy as a jeans, T-shirt, trainer combo and you are good to go.
Checked and striped blazers have become the latest must have jacket.
They are best-worn hip length and a distinctive button will add a luxe feel.
Wear with a contrasting shirt for full effect.
Tartan is no longer just for winter, the pink and lilac Mango version is a fresh look for this spring.
Models wear: (L) Jacket, £65, River Island, Blouse, £69.95, MBM, Jeans, £39.99, Sunglasses, £19.99, both Mango, Bag, £220, Soboye (R) Jakcet, £69.99, Mango, Shirt, £249, Luisa Cerano, Jeans, £199.95, Joe’s, Sunglasses, £150, Booth & Bruce at Soboye, Bag, £636, Lautem
Let the T-shirt do the talking
Tailoring with Slogan T-shirt
Up the slogan tee game by ditching the jeans and wear with tailored trousers instead.
The casual T-shirt and the smart structure of a tailored trouser seem to balance each other out to create a fashion forward look.
Slogan tees add a sense of fun to your day or a retro style logo like this one from Stradivarius will help to keep a tailored suit look effortless.
Models wear: (L) Jacket, from £141, Trousers, from £116, both A’Journey, T-shirt, £17.99, Stradivarius, Trainers, £160, Diadora, Earrings, £20, Kelis Africa, Bag, £20, Topshop (R) Mac, £80, Asos, Jumper, £363, Iphoria, Trousers, from £116, A’Journey, Trainers, £160, Diadora, Bag, £20, Topshop
